Penaeus
Monodon
ATLANTIC
BLACK TIGER
West
Africa Aquaculture was established in 2000 to develop sustainable
aquaculture in The Gambia. It is The Gambia's first hatchery, farm
and processing establishment.
Our
speciality is Penaeus Monodon, Atlantic black tigers.
The
Gambia offers the perfect environment for growing tiger prawns.
Our prawns are grown in the clean, pollution-free waters of the
Atlantic Ocean.
We
maintain high standards and ensure complete control of the production
from maturation to distribution with traceability and food security
following HACP guidelines.
As
pioneers in marine farming in The Gambia our continuous teaching
and training programs ensure a well-trained, dedicated and conscientious
workforce.
Our
products are grown slowly in a healthy and natural semi-intensive
environment. We do not use antibiotics.
Our
product is processed directly after harvesting to maintain the highest
degree of freshness. Prawns are packed and blast frozen, semi-IQF,
on-site in our newly built processing plant, which conforms to EU
standards and is EU certified. GAM/FPE/08/04
